Manjit. You will need to recreate the effect of the replicate in
space using an iterator or two. You can then compute the final
position of the plane as the inverse transform when it is on the box
and interpolate between the two.

Hi.
I am working on a composition that has a series of cubes replicated
in space. Ok, no problem there. I did start out using the "cubic
background" clip.
I had studied this clip and saw that it was done using replicate in
space and 3d transformation etc.
Ideally, what is required for this project is to have a plane
floating just above the central cube in the clip and after a few
seconds the plane moves away from the cube and aligns itself with
the 'camera view' and an image appears on the plane. Then the plane
move backs to be to a position on the cube.
I have had some partial results by using iterators to have a single
cube that has an image applied to and this cube also move closer the
camera. It started getting beyond me when I would try to use a
plane. Can you have a cube that only render certain faces?
I have attached the QTZ to this email.

Ideally, the motion should like in the storyboard below.

I would gather that using Javascript and some mathematical
operations could be performed to transform the co-ordinates for the
plane. And then when the time is at at 4-5 seconds, the plane is
oriented with a z rotation of 0. I found that when using the cubic
background it was not possible to get a plane that was on a separate
layer to intersect with the other cubes and be clipped.
The effect can happen quite quickly and does not need to be perfect.
Perhaps, what I need to do is use another approach to get such a
visual effect. Any suggestions on how to do it?
Thanks.
