There's an internal limitation, independent of the security constraints, that prevents a QTZ embedded into a QT movie to know its location on disk, and unfortunately, there's no workaround

Hi, I'm new to the list so hello to all. I'm Ade.

Can I get a QTZ to find out it's own path on disk? I'm trying to use an XML Downloader to load a file using a relative path. This works fine from within the editor, and even Quick Look, but not from QuickTime (nor, I think, a QCView?). To get it to work I have to use absolute paths, but I can't see any way of finding this out from within my QTZ.

The attached QTZ and 2 sample XML files demonstrate the problem. If you edit the Javascript patch to use absolute paths then it plays fine in QuickTime player but as it is, it renders as if the XML Downloader produced no results (a blank box).

More confusingly, this isn't flagged by the "Indicate Unsafe Patches" option, which I would expect it to.

Any suggestions or guidance would be most warmly appreciated.

Thanks,

Ade.
