I'm assuming you actually mean QCCompositionLayer

You can retrieve the composition for a QCCompositionLayer using the composer property.

So perhaps someone can answer how you can restart a composition from it's loaded state..

Is there a way to get a CACompositionLayer to 'rewind' its composition

see if I had a standalone CAView I can start and stop the animation,

composition go back to the start. Is there something I can do with
converttime:toLayer somehow? I could put a stopwatch on each
composition and have them all get their time from that I guess, but
that seems a bit of a hack, also it seems that compositions run even
when the layer is hidden... Any Clues appreciated.

that sounds like a bug.
