Some QC clients run QC in safe mode for security reasons: WebKit, QuickTime, iTunes... This means restricted URL access and only safe patches are available and no external plug-ins. There is no workaround by definition.

I have written a CocoaRuby bundle that I am loading from inside my custom QCPatch. I am passing along to the inputs of my patch strings from the iTunes song info structure inside a Music Visualizer patch. When I run iTunes I get the following error:

12/16/07 1:42:19 AM iTunes[3649] *** Patch class "QCPlugInPatch" is not allowed in safe mode

It then says it failed to load my custom plugin. What deams a composition to have to be loaded in safe mode, and how can you work around this. My ruby bundle is using the input values and making a web service call.

The ruby call works if I put my custom patch inside a regular composition.

Thanks,

Ben
