Do the "secret" cache settings in Quartz Composer work?
I'm guessing the "secret" QCPerformanceWindow setting would help determine that. There's a considerable amount of caching stuff added in QCLeopard, and I've seen some indications of intelligent eviction from VRAM at least, so I'd assume they work (with 0.0 being a "use everything" fallback or something). I don't know what would use a system ram cache off the top of my head. [- you'll have to restart QC to see this window -]
