You can do that already, in the patch parameters frame use the arrow
at the top. There are 3 panes - parameters, settings, and published
inputs. You can reorder the inputs in the third one.
I don't see that yet, but I just discovered that you can drag and drop
in the inspector (I had been looking for it on the Patch Parameters
list in the Editor window). In any case I see that the feature is
there which will be very useful to me - thanks.

speaking of feature requests, I figured I'd confirm that this one
had already been made if necessary...
AFAIK, published parameters appear in the patch parameter list in
the order in which they are published - I'm looking for a convenient
way to re-order them once they are published - like maybe by drag
and drop ? even if I am careful to publish in an order that makes
sense I am likely to later want to change the order and also to
publish more parameters that I want to go somewhere other than at
the end of the list etc. I'd be happy to hear there is already a
convenient way to do this that I am not aware of (I'm aware of the
workaround of cutting patches to the clipboard, then pasting them
back in and reconnecting etc to get them to appear lower in the list
but it's very awkward in complex comps) - other wise I can make a
feature request if it hasn't been made already
