Please file a bug and include the composition which isn't working in
iTunes. You can also post the example here and one of us will take a
quick look. It may be the case that your published input keys do not
have the correct key names.

yes i am able to get my app working in qc with the visualize on in
itunes. still dosen't show up in i tunes though. i did go to edit
protocol conform. it adds the compliance files to my comp i have
checked the box. maybe it has something to do with my ports. i
didn't start with a visualizer template. although i just did start a
comp from the visualizer template and it seems to show up in itunes
now. not sure why i can get my app to work in qc with the visualizer
on but it won't show up in itunes as a selectable visualizer. so it
seems maybe the input is working but maybe the output is not ? what
specifically do you need to set for published outputs ? i will start
over from the visualizer template instead of blank. i will look at
my file and compare it to a template when i get home and see what
the difference is. i think i was using one of the examples as a
reference. maybe even copied something i shouldn't have, i looked at
the example visualizer and it says © apple so maybe that has
something to do with it. maybe i copied a audio input from the
example file or something instead of adding a fresh one to my comp.
don't know if that would make a difference or not.

Hi Dustin,
Can you see if creating a new composition from a Music Visualizer
template, and saving it into ~/Library/Compositions will work?
Compliance to a protocol includes both having the right inputs/
outputs and also checking the box in menu Editor > Edit Protocol
Conformance... You may have complied with the inputs but it won't
know it's a Music Visualizer unless you check the box. Likewise if
you removed any required inputs.
When Styx is the selected visualizer and running in iTunes with
music playing, can you get your composition to play in the Quartz
Composer.app editor?
If any of those don't work, we'll need to figure out why. I just
tried it on Leopard and it seemed to be working.
Thanks,
Troy

does anyone have any experience with this ? i have read up on some
of the documentation. i have conformed to the apples visualizer
protocol and placed my quartz file in system>library>compositions
etc. my patch will not show up in itunes. i have tried placing the
same patch in my user and HD library as well still no go. i am able
to open the patch in .qtz then open itunes and turn the visualizer
on and get a audio file to control my patch from itunes. this is ok
for testing but not how it is supposed to work i think. im not sure
cause i can't get it to work so i am just speculating. when i have
an itunes standard visualizer and a quartz file running at the same
time my frame rate drops considerably. is there something i am
missing.
i have tried 2 simply open up apples visualizer example "lathe"
that shows up in iTunes and save it as another name "lathe2" but
even "lathe2" will not show up in itunes. i have been waiting for 3
weeks to get my new macbook pro that is maxed, which surley will
give me a better frame rate than the macbook i am using at the
moment but still shouldn't i just be able to view my .qtz file in
iTunes ? is there some kind of other apple protocol that i am
missing ? i havent done a clean install in a few years and have
upgraded from tiger to leopard 10.5.5 (really just to use the
leopard Quartz) i did this mainly to experiment with visualizer
stuff and to use a few kineme plugins that don't work on tiger.
im thinking this has to be simple. im not trying to sell or publish
a visualizer package/ plugin i simply want to be able to view
my .qtz in iTunes as a visualizer the same way as apples examples.
im either missing a simple step or something is maybe messed up
with my computer.
