this should give you an idea of how the membrane is made, or some of the
replicants and stuff are made with motion 3.
its a line family patch with a 3d transform.  i put that all inside a
replicate in space so you can
actually do multiple iterations of the line family, its currently set to 1
copy so its not really being used but thought you might want the option. as
far as color and speed and all the options membrane comes with you will have
to tweak out the settings to get what your looking for.

you should try putting quartz inside motion not motion inside quartz...you
may want to look into the kineme GL stuff. this is just one of many ways to
do this.
