Don't throw the baby out with the bathwater: one of the things i really like about QC is the readability and compactness of not having every single possible option as an input. The best of all worlds it seems to me would be a mechanism to selectively expose all the functionality of a patch on a control-by-control basis, ie. the inspector panel would list every possible parameter and with each parameter an option whether it should be a dynamic input to the patch. Sensible defaults would mean casual users wouldn't see any difference, and while facilitating more advanced use with better usability.
