When I change the background editor Alpha to less than 1, I see the color change reflected. The second I grab a patch, the background apparently shifts back to full an Alpha of 1, but now, all of the patches do a kind of "trail" when I do a two finger scroll on the editor surface; I can see around 8 fading iterations of the patches and noodles. It's a kind of graphics soup.
So, apparently this will happen in Leopard, but it is particularly pronounced in Snow. I've made sure that the installation is totally clean. Is this something that there will ever be a fix for? It's not hard to solve, in that all one has to do is to make the Alpha value 1, but I wonder if the editor is still "doing this" in some way and the aberration just isn't visible, and also, if it could impact performance. -George Toledo
