Yes it is normal if you are referring to the published protocol input port,
these are typical some of the virtual macro patches designed to provide
functionality as well as the templates that provide us with the building blocks
for screen savers, visualizers and so on.
If you were to look inside of such a .qtz file, you would find it is an XML
list - and the input and output protocol ports that are published up for
further application access and facilities, say at the System level for a Screen
Saver , or within iTunes - for a visualizer, contain what looks like, but isn't
gobbledy gook text.

and lo and behold, the mystery is revealed, or perhaps deepens, upon
apprehending the entry between the data tags.
