I use the previously mentioned export image plugin with a pulse patch
("both" edges and toggle the Boolean input to capture as the trigger) but it
has image size limitations which are significant when you consider for print
300dpi is standard, not 72ppi. *Does anybody know if the image size
restriction is GPU based or QC inflicted? *My limit on a NV GeForce FX5200
was 4096px wide x 1000 high (approx) for a very complex (for my GPU)
horizontal image recently. That was the most width I could get out of the
plugin.

I just tested the patch with a checkerboard image patch cropped to a square
image with dimensions of *n* pixels. Limit is 15000 < *n* < 20000. 15000 sq
px took a few minutes to output. Then my venerable DualG5 chooked for
another 2 or 3 minutes! (Probably should have shut down PS application first
to free up RAM). 20000 px would not write a file.

Another down side of using export to image plugin is it probably requires
you to use RII patch if your comp is doing anything interesting (ie render
patches) which is a big speed hump. Half the fps is the minimum of slow down
in my experience.
