If one was to read into this too much, one would also think about the fact that QC itself isn't supported by OpenGL 3.2 Core profile. Granted, many things can be done similarly using earlier versions of OpenGL, and I'm not sure how widespread adoption is. There are advantages in working with Core Profile, and I'd imagine if apps that Apple makes that currently make use of QC adopt to Core Profile, they'll have to use other solutions in place of Quartz Composer.
I know this has probably crossed the minds of more people than just I.
