I think you'd be better off using a version control system in your Quartz 
Projects. I'd recommend Git, as it's easy to use and allows you to revert to 
previous versions of documents:

QC constantly saves the state of your composition, but if you combine it with 
Git you can save (or "commit") particular versions of the composition. This is 
useful to revert accidental changes, keep track of previous versions, 
collaborate on compositions, etc.

You can use Git from the command line or from a dedicated software (I recommend 
SourceTree).
