Hi all,
I love this OS and would love to be able to build a development machine using
it. Unfortunately I'm broke and unemployed at the moment. Even though my laptop
(Asus Q550lf) is capable of running a CPU that runs IOMMU if I replaced the one
that's currently in it.
There are a few projects I'd like to work on like Android development, getting
a Hackintosh OS running, etc.
I settled on 3.2 since my CPU doesn't support IOMMU. I tried a few guides out
there which had success passing the GPU through. When I try to use the VM
Manager to pass through my 3D controller to a Windows 7 HVM, Qubes freezes and
the computer restarts.
It's really starting to look like I'm going to have to change my OS again and
abandon ship unless anybody has any ideas.
If your laptop doesn't support IOMMU, it won't support passthrough
either. You would probably need to do more than just replace the CPU to
get it to work. Even then, most laptops don't support passing through
their secondary GPU. 3.2 is no longer supported, so you might have to go
with some distribution running KVM.
