Is there a possibility, to recover data after moving it with cut and

Description what I did:
I have a VM based on a Fedora 28 template (Qubes 4.0) and attached a USB
3.0 SD reader with a SD card to that VM.
I moved my complete folder with important offline e-mail data (appr.
500MB) from the VM to the SD card with cut and paste.
The connection to the SD card was interrupted during moving, so the data
on the VM is lost and there is only a small part of it on the SD card
now.
There is no backup of that data to restore.
I know it was stupid, not to use copy and paste and not to make a backup
:-(

I didn't make a reboot of the VM and I didn't copy data on that VM yet.
Can the deleted data be restored somehow?

Many thanks for each kind of help or hint!

There is a chance you can recover the data.....

You said "I didn't make a reboot of the VM", and if your system is still running and the VM has not been shut down since the incident, you can simply clone the VM while it is still running. This will create a clone VM in the same state (with the same data!) _before_ you started the source VM.

A VM's prior state (pre-startup) isn't removed from the system until you shut down the VM.
