For "native" thunderbolt monitors there certainly could be an issue! For HDMI/DP, honestly, do not know how much a malicious device could do.
For "smart"-tv's please notice existence of ethernet-over-hdmi :) Often these machines have microphones (for vocal commands). As well as the STB that decodes your ip-TV.
