Dave, Thanks for your reply. Indeed, I realize the reason why for differences over +/-128msec, ntpdate uses settimeofday instead.
This situation occured as our code is using gettimeofday and is sensitive to sudden changes in time - so we were using -B option. We should just count the number of ticks instead of gettime, I think.
