There was a lot of structure manipulation to get the various fields extracted from the Oncore reply responses. I filed that under the 'magic' category and figured that the original author knew what he was doing. The rest of the code seems to have been rewritten and cleaned up by Clements a couple of years back.
There is a real lack of good understandable documentation for this driver and nothing more than source code comments for what goes in the configuration files. I know that the original driver required definitions in the /etc/oncore0 file for the hard PPS assert and clear action. In version 4.2.0 it was replaced by flag3 in the /etc/ntp.conf file and the HTML documentation for the current interation has all flag statements listed as not being used in this driver. I looked over the various changelogs in the distribution for any changes that might be needed in the config files. I could not find anything.
