I have a processor that has a serial GPS reference clock and also is configured with the local clock as a higher stratum backup source. If I unplug the serial GPS source, how long after the polling timer expires until the GPS reference is not considered the prefered server(asterix before the server name when running "ntpq -p" command). I plan on trying it out later and seeing if I can tune the overall time it takes by changing the "maxpoll" value, but I wanted to know how long after the poll timer expires until xntpd decides to not use that source as a server due to not being reachable.
