Just a quick note to those thinking about tinkering with the TrueTime driver.
It is used by the currently shipping Endrun Technologies clocks. These are CDMA clocks and have a "native" mode, but there is no NTP driver for that mode and they recommend running either Trimble or TrueTime emulation mode. Since I had several problems making the Trimble emulation work, we use the TrueTime driver in conjunction with kernel PPS (FreeBSD) with great success. Both ESnet and Internet2 make use of these clocks and I'm sure that there are many others so try not to break anything and don't assume that it's mostly obsolete. -- R.
