Harlan, Historically, rfc 1305 is/was an Internet Draft Standard. It was never advanced to Internet Standard because it is in PostScript, like the previous version, and I refused to rewrite it in Postel ASCII. Thanks to the hard working guys in the NTP Working Group, the NTPv4 spec is in XML and easily converted to Postel ASCII. But, it sure is ugly.
