I'm not too worried about that - I can boot into a working kernel. I have no problems with linux sys admin stuff so I'm OK to poke about with it in that sense. Anyway I did some more testing last night and changed some settings and upgraded ntpd see the new stats below from about 12 hrs of happy running. Still seeing NMEA as a false ticker a lot of the time and I'm still getting swings from - to + offset. The PPS output looks much more happy now - this was solved with flag2 1 on the PPS fudge line in the ntp.conf - I suspect for some reason ntp was looking at the wrong edge of the pulse. I'm also keeping an eye on David's thread about the change to the firmware and the fact the NMEA comes out at 'odd' times - I was running that version of software from day 1. xSHM(0) .GPS. 0 l 49 64 377 0.000 -37.963 8.816 *SHM(1) .PPS. 0 l 16 16 377 0.000 -0.046 0.002 xSHM(0) .GPS. 0 l 16 64 377 0.000 -24.151 10.470 *SHM(1) .PPS. 0 l 15 16 377 0.000 -0.047 0.004 xSHM(0) .GPS. 0 l 46 64 377 0.000 -15.914 16.791 *SHM(1) .PPS. 0 l 13 16 377 0.000 -0.020 0.027 +SHM(0) .GPS. 0 l 17 64 377 0.000 1.588 31.972 *SHM(1) .PPS. 0 l - 16 377 0.000 -0.025 0.017 xSHM(0) .GPS. 0 l 16 64 377 0.000 -10.837 10.440 *SHM(1) .PPS. 0 l 15 16 377 0.000 -0.024 0.005 ntpq -c rv associd=0 status=0415 leap_none, sync_uhf_radio, 1 event, clock_sync, version="ntpd 4.2....@1.2194-o Fri Jul 30 20:46:23 UTC 2010 (2)", processor="i686", system="Linux/2.6.18-194.11.3.el5", leap=00, stratum=1, precision=-19, rootdelay=0.000, rootdisp=0.382, refid=PPS, reftime=d0c5fc86.54a475af Wed, Dec 29 2010 18:29:26.330, clock=d0c5fc88.2e4dac15 Wed, Dec 29 2010 18:29:28.180, peer=42477, tc=4, mintc=3, offset=-0.009, frequency=-19.739, sys_jitter=0.124, clk_jitter=0.017, clk_wander=0.004 _______________________________________________ questions mailing list questions@lists.ntp.org http://lists.ntp.org/listinfo/questions
