Hi,

I have added new NTP server as Startum 1. I would like to sync my existing NTP server with new NTP server.

But keeping the impact less, I would like to know what is the best method to slew the time correctly.

I have figured out the steps and would like to confirm the same.

- First stop the existing NTP daemon.
- Configure the NTP.conf file with new NTP server.
- Sync the existing server with NTPDate – b <NEW Server Name>
- Start the NTPd and check the status with ntpq –p

Please let me know if this the correct method or else I would like to know another method for slewing the time.

Regards,
Vijay

You make it sound complicated. Vijay. Why not just:

- Configure the NTP.conf file with new NTP server.
- Stop the existing NTP daemon.
- Start the NTPd and check the status with ntpq –p

and let NTP take care of it all? Do you have some special requirement?

Cheers,
David
