Hello all, right before the year's end, *rejoice*, for it's another qlog update on which we'd like some feedback for two points:
Firstly, as you may recall, in London we presented plans to handle (future) qlog extensions mostly in separate drafts/RFCs. This got some chocolate-induced pushback, and we now have a new plan: 1. Include in the currently adopted documents all *direct* QUIC and HTTP/3 features and frames that are defined in an RFC / exist in IANA *by the end of 2022* - This includes: RFC9000 - 9003, 9114 (H3), 9204 (QPACK), 9221 (QUIC Datagram), 9287 (grease bit), 9218 (extensible priorities) and 9297 (H3 Datagram only) - Note: for 9297, we would *NOT include the capsule protocol,* as it's not a direct extension to QUIC/H3 and would introduce (excessive) additional complexity. - Note: this requires extending the current qlog scope (QUIC, H3 and QPACK only) to encompass the newer definitions 2. Anything published from 2023 onward can either include qlog definitions as part of its own document, or we will do periodic "bulk" update documents (e.g., qlog v2024) if required Secondly, we have included a first version of a "securities and privacy considerations" section in the documents [1]. As this is a key part of the text, we would greatly appreciate additional reviews and feedback on this section via the github issue [2]. We also plan to request an early secdir review in February 2023 to try and prevent major issues going forward. To allow us to make progress, we would like feedback on these points *by February 1st at the latest.* Otherwise, we will continue with the current plans. I wish you all a happy end of the year and let's make 2023 the year we see some qlog RFCs, shall we? :) With best regards, Robin [1]: https://www.ietf.org/archive/id/draft-ietf-quic-qlog-main-schema-04.html#name-security-and-privacy-consid [2]: https://github.com/quicwg/qlog/issues/259 -- dr.
