Hi, This email is about the draft on the Application of Explicit Measurement Techniques for QUIC Troubleshooting: https://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/draft-mdt-quic-explicit-measurements/ This draft defines an extension to the QUIC transport protocol to allow endpoints to signal packet loss in a way that can be used by network devices to measure and locate the source of the loss.
It is an evolution of the previous draft-ferrieuxhamchaoui-quic-lossbits presented in QUIC WG about 4 years ago. After the suggestion of the QUIC WG, we decided to move this topic to IPPM WG, in order to going deeper and produce a document that describes more in general transport-agnostic explicit measurements. It has been published as RFC9506 last year. So now we have a stable document (RFC9506) describing different methodologies for loss and delay measurements and on which a number of research and industrial implementations are based. We think this is the right time to describe how to apply those methods to QUIC protocol. This document focuses on a chosen subset of the RFC9506 methodologies for packet loss measurements. We would like to have a discussion on the QUIC mailing list on this topic and we welcome feedback and comments.
