Lionel, it would take quite a volume if the only acronym you're aware of is
smtp, and this probably--no, certainly--isn't the forum for that. You might
think I'm bloody-minded, but I mean no disrespect. Why not google the words
etc. and do some reading. That would save me writing about what's already in
the public domain.

Colin:

I am unfamiliar with most of the technical terms in your email; can you
explain what they mean othr than smtp?

Thanks

Lionel

Thanks Matt. My smtp server is configured to auto-bind to any IP in a group.
Some servers insist on SPF records being explicitly bound, from what I can
tell. I already had a TXT record identifying my server that Bind servers
pickup to more or less do the same thing as an SPF record.

When I explicitly bind my smtp server to an IP, sparky.redpin.com--QP's mail
server--doesn't reject even though I don't have an SPF record in
justmail.net's zone. If I add an SPF record and enable auto-bind,
sparky.redpin.com will reject. For the time-being I'll turn auto-bind off
and bind my smtp server to the sending IP in the name server. fwiw,
sparky.redpin.com's config is the only server I've bumped into that doesn't
seem to be aware of auto-binding IPs, so far at least. Perhaps if I play
with some SPF params I'll figure a way around sparky.redpin.com's
requirement.

The reason your email is being bounced is your domain justmail.net has
an SPF record. But that record says that email from 64.251.30.120 (the
mail server your messages to this forum were sent from) isn't on the
list. So mailservers (like Quotes-Plus's) are free to assume that your
message is forged and reject them. Or just delete them silently.

It looks like the problem is justmail.net's SPF record needs to be
updated. It's not easy to tell but I think the only authorized mail
server for @justmail.net is 64.251.30.123 which isn't the machine your
using as a mail server.

I got this info using the tools here
http://www.kitterman.com/spf/validate.html and by looking at the header
of the message you sent to this forum. If you type the IP address of
your mail server and your From address in that last section of the page
(leave the SPF Record and HELO/EHLO fields blank) it tells you the
message may be rejected.

If justmail.net is your own domain, you will need to fix this. If it
belongs to an ISP they need to fix it. Until that happens you could use
another email service (like Yahoo or Google) to send messages.
