I have had problems with other software. Timex said that this occurred with
their software because of windows updates around 10/2006.

 

It’s bad enough that Microsoft has a monopoly, but they should be able to do
things right by now. The way that Microsoft blunders along reminds me of a
book that was published about 40 years ago “the Technological Society” by
Jacques Ellul. Ellul pointed out that many technological solutions produce
more/worse problems than they cure. Ellul was accused of being a Luddite
(anti-technology), this is incorrect, he was pointing out that we need to
look at the consequences of new technology.

I don't know about others, but I manually install all Windows updates.
Haven't installed one for over 6 months. I have only had the QP
download problem for the last couple of weeks, so a Windows
update/patch is not associated with the problem in my case.
