I have had problems with other software. Timex said that this occurred with their software because of windows updates around 10/2006.
It’s bad enough that Microsoft has a monopoly, but they should be able to do things right by now. The way that Microsoft blunders along reminds me of a book that was published about 40 years ago “the Technological Society” by Jacques Ellul. Ellul pointed out that many technological solutions produce more/worse problems than they cure. Ellul was accused of being a Luddite (anti-technology), this is incorrect, he was pointing out that we need to look at the consequences of new technology.
