sorry for off top on QP board, but i just show you everything you ask in my first post. you going to get a clear data for each ticker without parsing thru all HTML code like you will have, if you are using direct link, like this one-
http://finance.yahoo.com/q?s=QQQKW.X plus, YHOO allow you to retrieve data for 200 tickers at once. man Everything is pretty much explained in link that i provide. just read it. here- copy and past this link into IE address bar- http://download.finance.yahoo.com/d/quotes.csv?s=QQQKA.X&f=snd1t1l1ohgvwdyr so-EOD update from yahoo for all stocks from all US exchanges takes for me a .about a minute or two. i just not sure, what exactly do you want? you want stocks and whatever data QP can provide- from QP and then get rest(including options) from yahoo? or you want all data you need from yahoo? Including stocks and options? if you want everything for free from yahoo-then i agree with rest of the posters(and i did mentioned this in my first post)-dealing with data maintenance for all US exchanges with all splits, deletions, reverse splits, special dividends etc and many many other things simply not worth it. i trade stocks for living for almost decade and i do have degree in programming, so-extraction of the data from yahoo is no big deal for me. keeping up with the changes is.i'm also willing to pay 25$ to QP instead and let them deal with it.. if this is too much for you-imo(no offence) you are in wrong business. This is also ftom your post- ------ What QP2 doesn't seem to provide are measures like option chains, Put/Call Ratio and Open Interest. Guess you can't have everything. ----- here is the link from QP files section- http://f1.grp.yahoofs.com/v1/sIojR33ipcRjzfxMfzKwFC_c24B-bb4X1_bqMUfWVEdIWtRMSrfUdK5rl2gJ3xbUjn3lUxkWJpIoAcWl4QetyLkjEfdW/DjTrader%27s%20Un-Official%20QP2%20Developer%27s%20Document.pdf open and read it. you ask about put\call ratio from QP in first place, now you ask for same thing, but from yahoo. and i said -QP have it. you ask for open interest-you can clearly see from link, that QP does provide open interest too. in fact, you maybe surprised, by how many other fields are available. i have no idea about yahoo ticker for put\call ,but there is QA section in yahoo finance and couple yahoo guys actually do answer the questions within day or two. this is my experience with yahoo. i do use yahoo finance VERY extensively every day and so far-i'm pretty happy with it(just like with QP data). but i'm not relying on just one source. every night i'm using sort of cross reference and compare data from QP and yahoo, just to be make sure, everything is accurate. And Im not a big hot shoot hedge find manager, just a little retail trader. Bottom line and suggestion- use both. And do your due diligence, before you jump on public board with all questions that you have. Good luck :) sorry for my english(not my native language at all) --- Zee UberTrader <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > And it's unclear how to retrieve historical quotes > without all of the > HTML. > > Anybody know how? > > -- Uber Trader > > On Oct 26, 2007, at 10:09 PM, murthysuresh wrote: > > > it is not as easy as it seems to use the free data > etc. if you factor > > in > > 1. symbol changes > > 2. new symbols > > 3. symbol deletes > > 4. splits > > 5. yahoo and google suddenly changing thier format > of data especially > > date formats. > > > > it is a hair rising experience. i have been thro > that and it is not > > worth the time you spend fixing things up. i find > it more > > economically to spend 25 bucks a month and let qp2 > guys figure it > > out. i can make producive use of my tiem analysing > the data that qp2 > > gives and make some money out of it. > > > > __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
