investor952 - Sorry to hear of your losses, you are certainly not alone. I offer the following not to gloat or primp, but to offer that with experience and discipline born of lots of time, trades and study, it's possible to capture profits in tough as well as good times - consistently.
I was up last year. It was a good year for spreads and selling premium in the high vol environment. My trend system did well, but my trading plan limits unhedged directional bets to 30% of equity so I didn't do as well as I might (something I'm doings some risk analysis on to see if I should change that). My oscillator and band systems performance were ok - Caught a bunch, but often stopped out with the huge volatility with just small gains and a few small losses. I'd bet the coming year will be better on those system and selling vol will become harder as premiums come in. Don't give up. Learn risk management to stay in the game, and resist the lure of high risk trades. -Chris --- In [email protected], "investor952" <investor...@...> wrote: > > I am just curious... > > How are you all doing with your stock portfolios? over the past 1-2 yrs? > > I'd be interested in knowing about what %down you are from the high in > October 2007.
