dpkg -S will only show installed filenames, so you should do dpkg -S
qmake, and it gives me a long list of installed files with qmake in
their name. one of the lines is

libqt4-dev: /usr/share/qt4/bin/qmake

I don't know how to display files in package, but Synaptic can show it.
