If I understand correctly how trac is supposed to be used, "version"
should be the first version of the software the bug was found, while
"milestone" is the future version for which the bugfix is targeted.

So "version" should only allow older versions, "milestone" only future versions.

The problem is that is has not always used/enforced correctly.

Now that Laurent fixed all the milestone fileld, you can get nice reports like:

When all the bug for milestone 2.2-RC4 has been fixed or moved to the
next milestone, than RC4 can be released!

If we want another filed with the OS, I think it should be easy to
add... (even if I never did it myself).
