General GM Instruments's list is accurate, but when I go to another list of instruments from within the options' menu, I have the same 127 sounds. I currently do NOT own a piano and my computer is the only thing right now that I can use. In order to get the sounds, should there be more synths or MIDI entries and should they match the soundfonts or the names given by the .ini files under QWS? The only Synth QWS finds installed is Microsoft GSWave. HTH.

Instrument lists don't give you instruments or we'd all be very well-off by now. You will have to either by another synth, go the soft-synth route, find free soft synths of which there are a number, or unfortunately for you stick to GM/GS. The Microsoft wave table synth is in fact GS so you're not limited to just 128 sounds, but what you will have is rather small and unsavoury to say the least. Set your instrument list to GS instead and you'll find some more sounds, but nothing very exciting I warn you. Also, if you're going to attempt to make something via qwerty and the on-screen keyboard, the time between pressing a note and hearing it will be latent. Very latent in fact. That is the way of the GS synth in question I'm afraid. Sorry about that.
