Hi Ramy,
Wil it work as a stand alone application?

Best regards
Brian

How can I use the sounds in sf2 files with QWS?

You have two options:

1. Get a sf2 compatible soundcard, such as a SoundBlaster Live, Audigy or X-FI. This is what I have and it works well.

2. Alternatively, I think there are software emulators which can read sf2 files and simulate a synth, but I don't know of any by name.

QWS does not explicitly "support" soundfonts, that is, it does not emulate a software synthesiser. However, if you have a soundfont compatible device on your computer, then simply select it by choosing the relevant port in the Track Properties.

For example, on my computer, I have the following ports:

Microsoft GS wave table (enough said).
SB X-FI synth A and B (two ports), (both soundfont compatible)
MIDI Sport OUT A, B, ... (these are my external MIDI ports to hardware synthesisers.

So I just have to select SB X-FI synth A or B and that's a soundfont device.

You'll need to load the soundfonts you want to use in the normal way. For example, for me, that's the Creative Soundfont Manager program that came with the soundcard. I have a set of soundfonts which get loaded as standard and once set up, I don't often have to go back to reconfigure.

Hope this helps.

James.
