Hi Leonard,

OK, I examined your MIDI file.

There's a very simple reason why everything is coming out as piano: there are no (0) program messages in the entire MIDI file. No program messages will mean that you have not specifically selected any different instruments, hence they all come out as piano.

I think you've given it away by saying that you are using styles on the Yamaha keyboard. Probably the style sets everything up for you. However, unless you play the song back on the same instrument using the same style, the sounds won't be right.

My guess is that you simply pressed record on QWS and then played the Yamaha, right?

I have found another problem with the MIDI file: the recording is not at all synchronised to the sequencer metronome. When you sequence with QWS, it will help if you keep to the QWS metronome, especially if you want to do any editing later on. If you simply want to play the keyboard and record in time with QWS, one way to do this is to make sure that the tempo and time signature settings in QWS are the same as those on your keyboard. Then use the Synchro start function in QWS to start QWS recording the moment you start playing on the keyboard. If your keyboard can accept a MIDI clock, then turn this on in QWS as well.

I hope this helps.

James.
