That's true. Maybe have all the other things like note, pitchbend, etc, and
then have a "Controler #" item, and if that is selected another edit box
could appear letting you enter the number of the controler.

I think that if there was one thing that could be changed in the
progression dialog, it should be that the desired controler number is
