Synth Font has realtime midi input, in fact the older versions used to be fairly accessible, but as you've said they made the UI busy in later versions. You can also use Timidity but it does not allow to change the soundfont on multiple channels. It does, however, let you load multiple soundfonts at once so you can use specialized soundfonts for some instruments. Timidity also has effects. But certain controllers which should be doing something, don't do a thing on my end, such as program changes on channel 10. There are also vst soundfont players, such as SFZ, but I can't figure out how to load a soundfont with them. I'm not sure if it can load multiple soundfonts at once. All of these, as far as I know, do meet your requirements for the most part. They definitely all support Asio, and should be able to be used with your keyboard via a virtual midi cable, and are free. So you can try them and see if you can work out all the little bugs I've found, and make one work.
Hopefully I have helped a little.

Subject: QWS List recormended Sound Font player.

Hi All.

please excuse the cross posting.
I'm trying to find an easy to use, screen reader accessible sound font player.

I'm currently using syfon1, a version of synth font. Mostly its accessible but I can't work out how to change the sound font and selected instrument for each channel. I did look at synth font but the UI is just a little busy. I'd be more than happy if people have some tips to make either of these beasts easier to use.

If not I'm after a player which:
1. can do real-time, or near real-time playback so I can record against it. 2. can take input from a midi in device, I'm currently using a virtual midi cable from my sequencer, QWS.
3. Must support ASIO.
4. cheep, or better still free.
5. Work on windows xp and/or 7.

Any ideas gratefully received.
Thanks.
Nick.
