Many keyboards have this function, but I'm not sure how well QWS would work
with it if you changed it on the keyboard. There is a way to do it in the
midi itself. To send the amount of pitch bend, you have to do a lot with
some data entry controlers, and a few others as well. Some synths do it
differently, but there is a combination that seems to work for all:
At the beginning, you put a data entry controler, that being controler 6,
and set its value to 2, since that is the default for most synths. Then
insert the following controlers, controler 98, 99, 100, and 101, and keep
their values at 0. Make sure they occur in that order, if one of them
happens to fall out of the order I said above, which you can tell that in
the event list, then it may not send properly, so you'll have to move them
until they fall in that order. You can move them a tick or two forward and
backward if you need.
At this point you haven't really done anything you would notice in the sound
of the midi, however you have sent some important messages to the synth.
Now, at the place where you want to change the amount of semitones for the
pitch bend, put another controler 6, which is again that data entry
controler, and set its value to however semitones you want. You then just
put your pitch bends as normal but you will have a wider range to work with.
The range will stay this way unless you get rid of the controlers you
inserted, or put in another data entry controler later to change the range
again.
To change the pitch bend with the on screen keyboard, you can use the
progression tool, and set the start and end time, and the start and end
values for the pitch bend, with -8191 being minimum and 8191 being maximum.
You will spend a lot of time just doing your pitch bends though, if you're
going to do it that way, even if you're lucky enough to get each one right
first time, which I usually am not.
No, I am not enough of a midi nut to know why this data entry thing works. I
just know it from looking at other midis that have done it, and seeing what
works and what doesn't. Hopefully there is an easier way to do it?

Hi list,
I happen to know that with some MIDI sequencers, it is possible to set
how many semitones the pitch wheel bends on a keyboard. How do you do
this in QWS?
Also, is it possible to bend the pitch of a note without using the
keyboard, because for some reason I use the on screen keyboard for all
my programming when I am not at school.
