I would certainly like to listen to those live sessions if not participate
in them too, even though I am not a very good user of QWS since I am more of
an apprentice in music, midi, etc, but it is always good to share
experiences!

Subject: QWS List QWS Live help sessions
Greetings. I'm sure I had this idea some years back but I was wondering
whether people would find live QWS webcasts of any use? WE would be using
teamtalk for it's ability to broadcast to and from, each user in stereo,
which is of course a benefit when demonstrating lets say, the progression
tool to create an auto-panner.
These would be recorded and published on my site with permission from
everyone who attends, and I would make it an informal drop-in session and
take questions.
I plan not to lead the group or even set out any course aims, nothing like
that, but for each person to offer tips and tricks, and give ways they do
things that they find very quick.
For example, to copy a track that plays piano to another track I want to
play strings, here's what I do, and why.
1. Highlight the track.
2. Do alt t m s.
This will enter the tools menu. this will enter the more tools menu.
This will choose item split track.
3. Change the split track properties to another channel, patch, etc,
until you are happy with the sound.
Q: Why did you do this instead of copying the track?
a: This way is definitely quicker. When you copy the contents of the
track, you highlight the track, select all with control A, copy with
control C, create a new track with control insert, set up the track
properties from scratch, paste the contents at the right point if the
track doesn't start at time 0, and so on.
When you split the track, chances are you have to adjust only a few
options, IE, track volume, channel and patch. Less steps but the same
overall result.
These are the kinds of things I'd like to share with you all, and also to
demonstrate the note editor and event editors for those of you who don't
necessarily understand them as well as you might wish.
Just a thought anyway. If there is any interest at all in this, we can
perhaps talk offlist about times to set it up, and come back to the list
when a majority of people would be around.
It would also be possible to live-stream the event to a server for those
who wish to listen but not participate or who do not have a microphone.
Both text and audio chat would be available.
