I've never done this, but I've heard others say this. the whole purpose of
the midi ports thing is to have more than 16 channels. So, you can have
channel 1 on one port, and have another track on channel 1 on a different
port. The fact that they're both on channel 1 doesn't matter because both
tracks are going to different ports.

I am using VSTHost as well as my Tyros 3 and I thought about using same
midi channels on different devices. So...Is it possible, when I used
channel 1 on my Tyros, that I can use the same channel, but on a virtual
midi cable? Imho it must work, because of two indipendent devices. Or is
channel 1 = channel 1?
