I usually just do the left mark right mark trick, then control m, delete,
down, control m, delete, down thing.
1. Set left mark with shift L, at the start of the section to be deleted.
2. Set right mark with shift R, at the end of the section to be deleted.
3. Highlight one of the tracks to have a section removed, press control M
to mark the data between the left and right markers, then press delete.
4. Repeat step 3 as required.

As for using midi type 1, I did think of that. It's an option. Whether I
want to go through with that is something I am still deciding, but it

work.

You can only select one track at a time. There is currently no such
command as Shift+Down.

Raymond, I find it easier to first select all tracks using the arrow
keys, then demarcate the part of the song I want to delete & delete it
that way.
In terms of your 2nd question, I'd select the part of the song I wanna
keep, copy it, start a new song, & paste it in. Again, remember to
select the tracks u want.
