To add to that, it depends on how you want to do the drum roll. If your
synth has a drum roll sound, you'll want to play the note for as long as
you want the drum roll to be, then use the progression tool with the
expression controller 11, as described in the QWS tutorial. Some synths
don't have a dedicated drum roll sound, so in that case you'll have to
fake it. Many have one, but just in case your's doesn't, then you'll
have to do a progression with notes. The expression controllers won't be
necessary if you have to do it that way. It'll never sound perfect but
it'll be the best you can do at that point.

I believe the hands-on approach is best. You will benefit from the
following tutorial which does cover the progression tool, which is
what you need in this case:

Hi list.
Strange request.
Does someone know how to increase a note's velosity, gradually.
I want to create a drumroll which starts about at position 2.000, and
ends at position 4.000.
At first you can't hear the drumroll, but then, by position 4, it ends
in some other beat of the drums.
Is it possible?
Step by step please.
Thanks,
Dewald.
