Just another question, for what is aftertouch controller? I thought that
it is used for this purpose.

Yes, very possible. You can do it with either the Volume Controller( CC7) or
Expression if your sound source responds to it. (A large number of them
don't use this -- I think it's either CC11 or CC13, so check a chart to
verify) Decide how much you want to increase the sound, then go into the
controller editor and input the values -- 0 is silent (niente in musical
terms, written as N) while 127 is as loud as you can get. (Fortisissimo in
musical term, written fff)
I'd suggest putting this on a separate track so if it's not delete it or
edit it and start over.
This is of course a lot easier with a keyboard, as the wheels and pitch
bender make it a lot more simple. For example, a Sforzando piano crescendo,
where it starts loud then drops to quiet and increases back to full volume
again, is a very idiomatic sound for brass. Set up your pitch bend for
expression on upward motion, then push it all the way up and start the track
on record. When you hit the place where you want the effect, let go, and the
spring load on the bender will drop it down to your lowest value. (Don't set
this to zero) Then bring it back up to maximum again over the rest of the
held note to get the accurate effect. I haven't tried it, but I suspect if
you set the lowest controller value fairly high this would also let you get
the "bell tone" effect for brass too. to your liking you can

Subject: Re: QWS List Changing volume of a note while playing?
Hello list,
I was just curious to know if there was a way to change the volume of one
note as the note is playing, like for every tick, the note increases. Let us
take a whole note. I want the whole note to increase with four ticks until
the note stops. Is this possible to do without a MIDI keyboard, or must one
have such a device for this to work?
I would like to know how that is possible. If anyone has some information
concerning this, I would be glad to hear it.
Thanks,
A
