Yes. You can set the initial volume by going into the track properties -- hold down the Alt key and hit enter. There's a volume parameter there with a data entry box that both will take inputted numbers or you can use the up and down arrow keys to change it. Dynamic volume changes are handled using changes in MIDI continuous controller 7, or in very rare cases a combination of CC7 and CC38. (I've never run into this second option being used, as 128 gradiations of volume is enough for most applications) You can do this many ways. For real time control you can assign a slider on your controller, or a knob, or even re-map the modulation wheel to CC7. (This can even be done with a pitch bend wheel) You can also use several functions within QWS to add these volume events. One more thing -- for smaller volume changes it's generally recommended to use CC11, Expression. Once again you can enter this either in real time by assigning or remapping a controller or by adding it using one of the tools. And now I'm wondering, is there a way to set the keyboard to send a controller in QWS? I can imagine this being very useful for certain audio effects, like the creation of the Sforzando-piano crescendo articulation that's popular for wind players. (A loud note that drops suddenly to quiet and then swells back up again) These are hard to create with wheels and sliders and also very difficult to add in through tools that create MIDI events.
