well,there is step record, which lets you give durations (although its
just one value). so, for example you have step record with a note
length of 0.96 (eight notes in 4/4) and when you press record, all
notes you play will be eigth notes regardless of how fast or slow you
play them. For replacing recorded material, there is punch recording.
You select the region with left and right markers (shift plus L and
shift plus r, respectively) then turn punch recording on. It will
replace the material in the selected región with the new material you
