Ah, great. How would one get instructions on settin' up reaper as a VSTHost,
or should I ask that somewhere else?

Addictive Drums doesn't support midi bank/patch change. You'll have to
change from the plugin itself.
You will find that many specialized/single-part softsynths don't support
bank/patch change directly.
I am working on something that will allow changing presets of addictive
from QWS if using Reaper as a VST host, which is far more flexible than
VSTHost itself, more accessible as well if you want to edit plugin
parameters.
