To address your first question, The bassmidi Driver itself does not really
allow for any control over which playback device you have your sound run
through. However, there is another piece of software that uses the bassmidi
Driver so load sound fonts, and it’s called cool soft virtual midi synth. You
can find it under the following link.
http://coolsoft.altervista.org/en/virtualmidisynth
Once you install this program, go into your start menu and type in conf and
arrow down to find the option called “configure virtual Midi synth”. Once
you’ve entered the program, control tab through the different dialogues, and in
one of them should be an option to change what playback device The synthesizer
uses, and there should also be an option to set your default synth for
Windows media player.
As for stacking sound fonts, you will need Viena to change the program and or
bank numbers of your sound fonts in order to make sure all the presets can be
accessed with QWS. It can’t be a long and tedious process, especially if you
have several general Midi sound fonts, but once it’s all done, it’s definitely
worth it.
God bless!
