Depends on your definition of "active". James is a one person development, coding, testing, and deployment team and QWS isn't and can't be his primary focus, as it's pretty much freeware. He puts out updates from time to time, and he's got a reputedly vast list of feature suggestions. (I know he's gotten a decent list from me, at the very least) I agree that it's one of the both simplest and also the most detailed ways to work with MIDI out there.
