I know this may be because of my long history with MIDI, but I don't know that
a 2.0 version of the specification will saturate much into the industry. MIDI
as it exists right now has a couple of major advantages. First off, it's
documented very well in its various flavors. Second, everything, and by
everything I mean every single element of the specification, is optional.
That's a lot of flexibility there.
Also remember that the MMA can do anything they want to in updating or rolling
out new versions of the MIDI specification, but someone has to implement it,
and that means both sides -- James would have to make QWS MIDI 2.x compatible,
and there'd have to be hardware that used it too. Given the current retro craze
I'm finding it a bit hard to expect both of those things to come together at
once.
I seriously doubt James is done with QWS, but he has said a couple of times
here he's working on other stuff and will get back to QWS soon enough.

Subject: Re: QWS List QWS Ver 2.0?

Hi Carlos, my tocallo,
I was eaven thinking the same thing about a tentative QWS 2.0, since I was
recently exploring about the new MIDI 2.0. Could this possibility will become
reality? And also don't want to come to the extreme, but will be a GUI rewrite,
so instead of using lng files to translate qws in this case, can we use PO nd
MO files?
