What happens if you rename qws.ini to qws2.ini and try reloading it? It will come up with default configuration of course, but that might narrow down the problem a bit. You could also share your INI file and someone could test whether the program crashes on their machine. I've had to do this a few times but I never tried to figure out what the problem might have been, and it was a long time ago.
